I have always been a visionary. Seeing possibilities in my mind before they ever become reality is a special gift.
Every year, I use that gift. I set my goals, map out my plans, and commit them to God. Then, I take steps to make things happen. It is a system that has worked very well for me.
Until 2024.
I came out of a very successful 2023, riding high on momentum. 2024 was supposed to be my year of execution. I had my plans lined up perfectly: progress in my PhD program, grow my business, and position myself as a writer. I had the strategy, the discipline, and the drive to make it happen.
And then, God disrupted everything.
It all started with a dream. I believe it was during or right after my 21-day fast in January. In this dream, I started a business, and someone stole it. Then, I started another, and that too was taken. Frustrated, I went home, expecting to find comfort, but instead, I found strangers living in my house. My own bedroom was no longer mine, I had been kicked out.
Feeling distressed, I searched for a place to hide and cry. My brother was already there, and for a moment, I thought he would kick me out too. But instead, he smiled and said, “Come in, this is your room too.”
When I stepped inside, I saw some of my belongings. A wave of relief washed over me, but as I lay down, the weight of everything hit me. I broke down in tears, crying out to God, “Why is this happening to me?”
Then, I heard a voice say:
“I will put you in charge of tens, hundreds, and thousands, but you have to let Me choose.”
When I woke up, I immediately meditated on the dream and prayed. I knew I had read something similar about tens, hundreds, and thousands in the Bible. So, I did a quick phrase search and found it in Exodus 18.
This passage records Jethro’s advice to Moses: instead of handling everything himself, Moses was to appoint leaders over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens so he would not burn out.
At the time, I interpreted my dream as God promising to elevate me, give me influence and leadership. But looking back now, I realize the dream wasn’t about promotion, it was about transformation. I had prayed, “God, use me.” And He had answered but not with immediate elevation. Before He could use me, He first had to transform me.
When Everything Unraveled
I had deactivated my social media for the fast, but God told me to keep it deactivated when the fast ended. That was unexpected! How was I supposed to promote my blog without social media? Still, I obeyed.
Then, during semester registration, I got loaded with four intense courses instead of one. That meant no time for writing or extra reading. It didn’t stop there. One of my key employees informed me that he would be relocating at the end of the year. And just like that everything began unraveling, just like in my dream. It felt like everything I had built was being taken away, one by one.
Normally, when my plans collapse, I get stressed, anxious, and frustrated. But strangely, 2024 was one of my most peaceful years. I did not miss social media. When my staff left, I was genuinely happy for him. When I closed my business, I felt relief instead of disappointment. And despite all the changes, I never lacked provision.
That is when I realized: this was divine strategy at work.
The Problem with Human Strategy
We are often told that if we want to succeed, we need a vision, goals, a solid strategy, discipline, and consistency. If we follow these principles, success is inevitable.
Except, it isn’t.
People plan, work hard, network, and invest in themselves and still fail. Not because they lack effort, but because strategy alone does not guarantee success.
What is Divine Strategy?
Divine strategy is God’s intentional plan to position, prepare, and propel you into His purpose. It is the unfolding of His wisdom in your life, guiding your steps beyond human logic and aligning you with opportunities, people, and places meant for your destiny.
Unlike human strategy, which relies on calculation and control, divine strategy requires surrender, faith, and obedience. Is is about fulfilling a higher calling that impacts not just you, but generations to come.
When God sets a strategy, His goal is not just to open door for you, it’s to transform you to walk through them. His plan is never random; it is precise, prophetic, and always leads to greater purpose.
Are you tired of trying to figure it out on your own? Try God’s strategy today and watch your entire life be transformed. Below I share five steps to receiving Devine strategy:
Five Steps to Receive Divine Strategy
1. Pray and Ask God for Direction
Before setting your next big goal, stop and ask, “Lord, what is Your will for me in this season?” James 1:5 reminds us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” King Solomon asked for wisdom instead of wealth or power (1 Kings 3:5-14). Because of that, God gave him both wisdom and success. The first step to divine strategy is humbly seeking God’s wisdom before making major moves.
2. Write the Vision, But Stay Flexible
Habakkuk 2:2 instructs, “Write the vision and make it plain.” Writing your vision is an act of faith. It shows God that you take His instructions seriously. But while writing the vision is important, remaining flexible is just as important. Paul had plans to go to Asia, but the Holy Spirit redirected him to Macedonia (Acts 16:6-10). Divine strategy requires a written plan and an open heart willing to pivot when God says shift.
3. Look for Confirmation
God always confirms His direction. 2 Corinthians 13:1 says, “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” If you are unsure about a decision, wait for confirmation. Seek wise counsel from mentors, study scripture, and pay attention to whether God’s peace is present. If confusion, anxiety, or unease accompany a decision, it is worth re-evaluating.
4. Move in Faith, Not Fear
Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” Noah had never seen rain, yet he obeyed and built the ark (Genesis 6:14-22). Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going (Genesis 12:1). Peter stepped out of the boat when Jesus called him (Matthew 14:29). In each case, obedience came before understanding. Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. If God gives you a blueprint, He will provide the resources.
5. Stay Open to God’s Adjustments
Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”David was anointed king as a teenager, but his path to the throne included years of being a shepherd, a warrior, and a fugitive. Every step was strategic preparation for his ultimate purpose. Likewise, your delays and detours are not random. They are divine setups for something greater.
Final Thoughts: Your Next Level Is About Alignment, Not Just Effort
Your next level is not about working harder. It is about working with divine wisdom. Before you make your next big decision, pause and seek God’s guidance. His strategy unlocks doors that no human effort can open. Are you relying on your own plans, or have you asked God for His strategy?
The difference between human strategy and divine strategy is simple.
One relies on your strength. The other relies on His power.
Which one do you want guiding your life?
